a work in process… SLOW!

Filed under: polymer clay — tinat @ 12:32 pm

Well, I am still working on my dad’s big breasted mermaid……

Mermaid process

she is slowly coming along….. Slowly.  I guess it’s just out of my comfort level and it is just taking me some time to figure out what I need to do.  of course photos are not forgiving… when you see the flaw in a photograph, You SEE it all and then some.

mermaid process 2

can you tell that I wore black the last time I worked on her?  LOL!!  My human eye didn’t catch all of the lint, but boy does it show in the photo!  I guess I’ll be applying a finish of some-sort on her after-all…..

mermaid process

Lesson learned… No WEARING BLACK! EVER!! when sculpting, and to work slower…. but hey, this is a learning process, right?  Mistakes are bond to be made when you are out of your comfort zone…. that is how we learn to do better the next time around!….  I am getting it…. slowly!

I did get some beads made!!!  Now that is something I am comfortable with!  LOL!!  I have yet to get pics of them. ..  . but will soon!!!  :0)

On a Mission!

Filed under: polymer clay — tinat @ 9:23 pm

My Dad has me on a mission… LOL!! …. well, to me it’s a mission!  He wants me to make him a “big breasted”  mermaid in/on a seashell that he and his soon to be wife found!  I haven’t sculpted in a long, long time.  I have made teeny tiny things, but nothing over an inch in size!

So, I have slowly started the process of sculpting a “big breasted” Mermaid!  LOL!!  As you can tell, I still need a ton of practice on sculpting!   I so admire those who do and do it well…

Here is what I have thus far:

Man, I tip my hat to those of you who make sculpting look so easy…..  I have to work hard  – I mean HARD  to get things to look some what like they should! LOL!!  (I am seriously snickering at myself!)  Well, enjoy the laugh and wish me luck on getting this done by Christmas, I know that it will take me at least that long to figure out how to get the “big Breast” on this mermaid!  Thanks a lot Dad!!  LOL!!

I can not believe that it’s been 6 years ago….

How do you even begin to say “Thank YOU!” to the ones that risk their lives, and those who have gave their lives for us (me) to live here in this wonderful country?

How do you say, “I am so Sorry” for those who’s family members were snuffed out of their lives?
( Because of what happened on one September day, my children will be safer, you gave your life to save mine….. for that I am so gratful! )

How do you even begin to express how gratful you are to know you are safe here, right now at this moment, free to express you feelings with out fear…. free to speak with out fear, free to just be with out fear….  I can be Free, because THEY  gave……  I am so gratful for that!  (and I am so sorry for it too – - it is such a HUGE thing to give; a life)

Just lots of ponder this day…. there are no words to express how Blessed I feel to be here…. So Blessed that They gave so my children can live a life without fear…  How do you even begin to say THANKS?

What I do know is that I pray for them this day, and I know that God will not only Bless them,  but he will bless their families for generations to come!

Just wanted to take time today to say THANK YOU!  and may the Blessing keep coming!

I have a few more beads that I am just loving right now…..  Fall, to me, means  warm shades of Brown, Golden Caramels, and rustic Reds…  just YUMMIE colors to combine!

See what I made with those wonderful colors! (I’ll have more later!)
