JRB has done it again!

Filed under: polymer clay — tinat @ 10:05 am

Jana Roberts Benzon has done it again!  I am a HUGE fan of her work… Love all the caning that she does, and she has inspired me to make some of my canes more complex…. but now….  I have to say that she has done it again!!!!  Have you checked out her front page to her website?  Her polymer clay “glass techniques” have me intrigued!

Look at that center ‘clear’ bead with the gold and green…. HOW DID SHE DO THAT????  LOL!!!

and look at her “Lampwork” on this bead!!

I have tried a few times to create the “glass” look, but have to admit, I haven’t done so well.  Here was my attempt to make a “goddess” bead….

Not too bad from afar, but in person, LOL!!, it’s really scary!  I didn’t have a heat gun so I had to watch that the liquid didn’t run off the sides of the bead….. I need to give it a try again!  (now I have a heat gun!!!)  I am sure that the results may be different the next time around! LOL!!

Speaking of heat guns…. did you know that with the use of Kato Polymer Clay you can get a Hand buff, or sealed look, by just taking the bead to the heat?????

Look at the results:

See the before, and the after affect?

all I did was take the heat gun to the bead:

swirl the bead around and around so it’s not “HOT” in one place and burns

Stop once the bead is nice and shiny!!

just another picture of the before the heat gun and after using the heat gun…. see, nice and shiny and the colors just POP out right at you!!

Yeah, I am lazy and cheap! LOL!!  I just hate to sand and then clean, and then buff my beads… I have carpel tunnel and a touch of arthritis in my hands so holding and buffing can cause a lot of pain… but this is a pain free short cut that really works for me! :0)  and that makes for happy hands!  If you give it a try let me know if your hands thank you like mine did me!  :0)

Fall is so Inspirational!!

Filed under: polymer clay — tinat @ 10:25 pm

I normally do not like to get “personal” on my Blog… keep it strictly about the Polymer Clay and what I am doing business wise… but, this weekend I just had a BLAST photographing my kiddos!

We went to a few of the local Parks and I just snapped away at them being just them… I did pose them for a few and low and behold this pic turned out so cool!  I just LOVE it !

And take a look at the leaves… they are just bursting with colors:

and tucked in the corner of the house by the grill was a lone little flower… look how pretty this morning glory looks with the falling leaves:

Fall is just one of the most inspirational times of the year… all the wonderful contrasting – vivid – mind boggling colors all exploding right in front of you with each passing day!

(By the end of the week … this will all be on my yard and I will be raking up wet yucky leaves!! But boy they sure are pretty!! LOL!!)

Mermaid update!

Filed under: polymer clay — tinat @ 12:19 am

Well, I had a few pics posted of my mermaid, but I guess she violated the terms of photobucket and they removed her! LOL!!  I find that quite humorous!  Who knew!!

Here is what I have thus far:

Eye-am watching YOU!

this is a drawling I did then used my water color pencils to color it in, and a little green ink, and black ink pens… and heat set and layered with Kato Liquid… and ta-da!  LOL!!!  Ok, it sounds easy enough, but it takes time and layers and more time and more layers, but I do love it!

oh, and how about some Stone Faces???   doesn’t everyone need a few stone faces in their lives?

Stone Faces

Fall finally hit here today!  We woke up with a nice crisp cool morning, and today it’s not to get out of the 50’s…….  it’s been crazy here with HOT weather, the kids were actually starting to wonder if they would ever get to wear their fall clothes… so finally today they went out of the house in pants!  NOT SHORTS! LOL!!

Fall!!

Happy Fall!!

More beads

Blue and Purple Mix

I got more beads done!!   I needed to replace some beads for a customer…. Blues and Purples are so much fun to work with!  I have to say that the beads with gold in them are some of my favorite beads in the bunch!!  (Thanks Chelle!!)

I also was inspired by a bead group that I belong to on eBay…. they had a wonderful pic of sunflowers through a textured glass…  I had never made sunflowers before!  I’ll have to do it again!

Sunflowers

I just love working with inspirational pictures…. you just never know what others will come up with and the colors that they choose to use…   It’s just always so much fun seeing the end results from so many different mediums!

I am still staring at the mermaid and trying to figure out what to do next! LOL!!  Man, what a chore it is turning out to be!

I have started on Christmas beads!  It won’t be long and it will be here….  time does just fly on by… it never asks, it just keeps speeding up….
