progress is very slow

Progress is very slow, especially when it pains the heart!

I have wrote a few enteries about the shell that my dad found at the beach that just had to have a mermaid on it….(a big breasted mermaid at that!)  I think that he would have been happy with her! LOL!!

Well, I still am working on it… slowly.  I pick it up and look at her, and my heart just aches for him… I still just can not believe that he’s gone; just like that, gone….  I received a beautiful bracelet (a memory bracelet) that had Swarovski stones for his birthday month.  I tried to match the color of the swarovskis with the mermaid’s tail and hair….

(((SIGH))) see, it just pains my heart! LOL!!  but I am happy to report that I have made some process over the weekend.  I just sat down and decided that I need to complete her and pass her on to my dad’s wife Carrie.  She’s going to love her…. maybe not all of her, but most of her I am sure that she will be pleased with! LOL!!

Here are the before pics:

I really am getting excited about getting her finished…. SLOWLY!   I want to add some shading to her and a few touch-ups here and there… and find a way to attach her to the shell without breaking her and making it look too fake.  (like it really matters how fake she looks, she is fake! LOL!!)

It’s the first time I have ever made a mermaid  before (full sculpt)…..and I have to say that I really did enjoy the process of figuring things out.  I looked and stared and studied mermaids, till I was dreaming of them!   and that is not such a bad thing.

I happened to find my brother’s my space today.  On his page he has a pic of him as a little boy with a picture of my dad….

Jarrod and Dad

His smile was contagious… and so was his hissing laugh!  LOL!!  …..

Time…..  I know it just takes time….  Progress, it is slow, in so many ways – but you just have to put one foot in-front of the other and slowly get to where you need to be, one baby step at a time….

Beads for Beads of Courage

Filed under: polymer clay — tinat @ 2:04 pm

Some where on the net I came across Beads of Courage…. I, for the life of me, can not remember where I saw the link, but I couldn’t help but feel drawn into helping them out by donating beads…..  What a wonderful cause!  It seems like such a little thing to do, and why not just do it, it’s not like they are asking for a ton of things…. just pretty beads! LOL!!

Here are a few of the beads I made up for this:

They are not perfect, but they were a lot of fun to make…. so go ahead and give!!  Let a few pieces of your art enrich a child’s life…. make them smile… give them something to treasure for the moment!

It’s a NEW YEAR!! Yeah!!

Filed under: polymer clay — tinat @ 9:13 am
Hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s  -  It’s hard to believe that it’s been here and gone and we’re heading into the second week of January already.
I have gotten a part time job and haven’t worked on my clay for almost two weeks….  I can not believe that it has been that long, but with the  holidays things just get crazy and it is easy to put things aside for a while.  I am hoping to get back into the swing of things this coming week.

I have actually been dreaming of clay! LOL!!  Creations, colors, I have never done that before! LOL!!  I have heard of people having dreams in colors and about things that they want to create, but I myself have never had that till this past week.  I actually had two nights in a row about playing with clay.  That must mean I really am missing it and can not wait to dig in again!
I am hoping that the break will do my creative juices some good.  I have many projects started, but haven’t finished.  Loosing my dad really took a toll on me creatively.  I have his mermaid I need to finish, plus I was going to enter a mask photo for a book…that too has been left on the side of the table.  Both projects I do want to finish, even though the entry for the book is due soon and it wont get done in time,  I still want to finish it.  I hate to start things and not finish them up….  Works on my self-esteem in a bad way.  Marking things off of my mental check list always feels good and uplifting! LOL!!
Here are some more flower beads that I made up:
